Margaret Carter saw no good end to the conflict. She saw no way that the united allied forces would be anymore successful in winning world peace that could last than they had already been. She weighed her options and saw the only logical thing was to aid Hydra.

Her skills and talents, not to mention her former military connections with MI6 made her invaluable and soon she worked with no less than Johann Schmidt himself. The man had more than once considered her his protege, and had grown close to her. Whispers of how close they were ran rampant until either one drew near. The extent of their relationship remains a mystery.

Margaret is a skilled combatant, and brilliant military strategist and has been praised as nearly single handedly turning the tide of the war in their favor with her particular brand of intelligence gathering, fearless charging and determination. When asked why she had not given up when things looked bleak, she simply said "I had faith." And faith in the cause made Agent Carter rise in the ranks of Hydra to be one of their top operatives.

She can be ruthless, but in the end, she seeks peace, a world at peace.
